There are so many neat features to the board such as various resources to use in teaching math and voting tools (clickers) that give teachers immediate data for students. I use my clickers often for immediate results in order to form intervention groups and as a source for re-teaching skills. Roblyer and Doering (2013) thoroughly describe the need to track our students' progress. Lastly, my favorite feature is the use of prometheanplanet.com. I am an active member of prometheanplanet in which you can find flipcharts in every subject to use and adjust as needed. This is one of the best features of the board and saves lots of time. Promethean Boards allow students to come into a world of technology that they operate in on a daily basis. It is definitely a great way to keep them involved.

This is absolutely my favorite technology too. I will have to check out prometheanplanet.com. I could really use the flipcharts in my grade level. Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteI learn how to use the Promethean Board during undergrad, but we have Smart Boards in Mobile County School System. There is not that much difference between the two. I enjoyed the video. I am schedule for three Smart Board training classes this summer. Hopefully I will learn a lot and I can add this to my favorite technology list too. I am glad you work everything out with your blog.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of the Promethean Board. In my school system we use interactive Smartboards which look very similar to the Promethean Board. After watching the video, I can see many similarities in the two. We do not use "clickers", but I have seen those used in the middle school and high school.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kendra and Latricia. Kendra I don't think the smartboard has as many features and flexibility. Our lower grades have those.
ReplyDeleteI love the interactive smartboard in my room. It is similar to the promethean board. I hope to become more familiar with it and utilize it more in the coming year.
ReplyDeleteAt my old school I had the pleasure of using the Promethean Board for a short time. It is a great tool to keep the students motivated and focused. During that time I wasn’t aware of the flip charts that contained the videos. If I have the chance again to use one I will do so much more. Thanks for the video and information.
ReplyDeleteInteractive boards are amazing! I love the one that we have in pre-k. I am not familiar with the Promethean Board, but the video was very informative. I like the idea of the clickers. I think that it's a great idea to use them for intervention groups as you said. Maybe I can have one of these in my room one day if I teach an upper grade!
ReplyDeletePromethean boards are a great resource... I am so glad that you have had one in your classroom and value the importance of keeping your students active during your lessons!
